Day 120 - The Archer's Window - 256 to go

Peek-a-Boo!!!
A window for archers
I can see you but you can't see me.

Hidden in the forest where the above photo was taken, the Archer's peep hole window belonged to this castle ruin in a forest just above the Troglodyte village on the cliff overlooking the river below.
The atmosphere was quite weird with the mist hanging in the forest. We were alone except for the noises of the forest and the river below.

Diane, one of our readers asked about the Troglodyte village. It is La Madeleine - look it up on Google pictures and Google Earth for more information. We found it to be a hidden treasure.

Its one of those photos

but somewhere in the Dordogne
during 2008.

Day 109 - Under the Arches in Monpazier - 257 to go.

This day by day thing is not as easy as I thought - coming home from work and checking to see if I've missed a day. Anyway we are on our 109th day with only 15 to go before leaving on our May in France.
Maybe we'll post photos from our May in France. We'll see.

Still in Monpazier
people gather at the tables
it must be getting close to lunch
But for the rest of April
we are still in the Dordogne before moving further north.

Day 106 - What is house/What is cave - 260 to go

The stone houses built in to cliff faces
never ceased to amaze me,
even defy the logic of my eyes.
The Perigord.

Day 105 - Is a Cave, a Home? - 261 to go

A morning ride not far from Le Bugue in the Perigord
looking for a little hill training,
I rode upwards and then along a small winding track.
It took me to a dead end
and a hamlet of maybe six homes on the hillside.
This one was built over the entrance of a long cave,
with wall paintings of bison and mammoths
we discovered on a return visit.
Morning rides in France has its rewards.

The holes in the walls held wooden beams
